Background:

Border Land School Division understands the seriousness of communicable diseases and the role that immunizations have.  Border Land School works in partnership with Manitoba Health to ensure access for families to both accurate information and in-school clinics.

Schools will reference the Southern Region Health Authority’s policies and procedures for various communicable diseases such as meningitis, mononucleosis, measles, mumps, chicken pox, shingles, HIV AIDS, lice, and hepatitis.

Immunizations against infectious diseases and health problems are administered according to the regulations established by Manitoba Health.

Notwithstanding the above, prior to immunization clinics occurring in schools, notice must be sent out to parents/guardians and students under age 16 must have a completed immunization consent form to have access to the school-based clinic.

Border Land School Division

Border Land School Division acknowledges that the communities and schools located within Border Land School Division sit on Treaty 1 and Treaty 3 land, the original lands of the Anishinaabe peoples and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.

Border Land School Division respects the treaties that were made on these treaty areas and we dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with our Indigenous communities in a spirit of truth, reconciliation and collaboration.
