Particulars:

The successful candidate will retain a full-time Community Connector support staff position, working 7 hours per day, at Roseau Valley School.  This position has variable hours that will include days, evenings and requirements throughout the summer months.   RVS is a Kindergarten-Grade 12 school with 225 students located in Dominion City, Manitoba.  We are looking for candidates who are flexible, can work as an effective team member in a K-12 school setting and has the ability to connect with diverse groups of students.  This position will remain open for applications until filled.


Qualifications and Experience:

  1.   High School Diploma
  2.   Experience working with children and families
  3.   Community leadership and involvement
  4.   Post-Secondary education will be considered an asset
  5.   Valid driver's license with access to a personal vehicle


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in promoting a welcoming school environment and a climate of trust for families
  • Connects and builds positive relationships with all families
  • Work cooperatively with school staff to develop/connect activities with the school’s educational program
  • Networks and collaborates with community groups, agencies and businesses to help mobilize resources
  • Communicate with and assist in the development of appropriate communication for families and community members (ex: phone calls, newsletters and social media)
  • Organizes and coordinates workshops for parents and community members (ex: nutrition, parent education, literacy/numeracy programming, etc.)
  • Opens the school for before, after, evening and summer use (ex: recreational, cultural, educational programming, etc.)
  • Assists in preparing funding proposals and compiling information for financial reporting as it relates to community school funding/expenditures


Salary and Benefits:

The compensation package for these positions is in accordance with the Border Land School Division Support Staff Compensation Agreement.
